Fucking gorgeous is what Nathan says.
I second his notion, as the sky
celebrates in its own fashion.
Two airplanes pass overhead,
splitting the clouds but leaving
one chemtrail. I know, I know—
lazy metaphor. But how else
do you describe it? Two hermit crabs
trading shells. Two ropes spliced
together. Best friends
who hold hands and kiss sometimes.
I’m sorry if I don’t have the words. But
what is poetry if not
love to end all love?
two of my dearest friends got married recently and asked me to speak at their rehearsal dinner. though i am a writer i do not consider myself a great speaker, and that combined with the fact that they are both writers in their own right made me decide to write them this short poem, which i have come to love almost as dearly as the friends themselves. truly claudia & gabe forever.
this is the best! i am so honored by this poem <3
